Garage time = quality time

Tools, spraycans, a lot of “stuff” (as in any garage worthy of its name), a few bikes and lots of time to myself – what could possibly go wrong 🙂 Well, in this case I could say a lot but I think I managed to minimize the damage by out-baffling myself !!

Black Pearl has been patiently waiting for new parts to sort out some minor electrical problems like the alternator not working and oil constantly dripping from the cooler. No biggie – as my aunt Petunia Codswallop would say when she accidentally went in to the mens dressing room, for the third time.  Rather later than sooner had I decided to get some much needed spareparts such as a new Vance & Hines exhaust system, a fueling fiddler and possibly also some cool boots and a very black and very low fairing. All which would no doubt sort out the alternator and oil leak some how.

So there I was on a late Friday afternoon when it suddenly hit me – let’s just remove the mufflers from Black Pearl and start her up to hear what it shounds like straight from the headers. 5 nuts and bolts later and 2 baby whale sized mufflers tossed aside I released the dormant tone of an old rebel screaming for springtime and the open road. What a difference that was but I have to say it was a bit on the noisy side where reving it sounded like a string of Chinese fire crackers. I was missing that deep tone. 45mm in diameter is a concept that works fine at Biltema’s fine art department for exhaust pipes. Now all I need is a walkabout in that department and I will build my very own Jake & Wake exhaust system that will definitely sound, and maybe even look, awesome !

This then being the budget version of senior rebel growl but with a complete V&H system at a wopping 1000 Euro I can only bless my brain for being open minded enough to go my own way. Anyone with a pile of  cash can get a pipe that says V&H on the side but it takes a dumb nut like not only to avoid that but also to have some clamps holding up some cheap ass cans that looks butch and sounds like two steel drivers having a work out on a container.

As I said – what could go wrong ?

Slow down, capture the moment. The whole thing about riding motorbikes is to enjoy the moment, chill out, enjoy with friends, see nice things and have fun. Be good, do good and good things will come to you.
