Being truly lost…
It did not take long for me to understand that I have been infected with some strange disease. I have been looking a 4 wheel thingies for quite some time and finally went and bought one. At the same time I put my BlueBird up for sale. Now I am even contemplating to hawk the white bike, the moped, the … well, you know… the works.
The background is that my wifie needs a car that does not break down every week and requires tons of expensive TLC. So a Chevy was purchased along with a Merc. COOL !!!!
When the holiday is over it is back to reality… sniff…

Wenngarn castle ride – Swedish summer evening
A few good lads braved the Swedish sunset in the midst of summer and rode off to Wenngarn to meet with those just like them. Wanting nothing more from life at that moment than to let the tarmac slip under the tires and complete the run before the sun goes down. We did it and here is the picture story on how we did it!
Thanks guys for a great ride

BlueBird 4 SALE
Yes, it is tragic but true. The lovely Ducati ST4 that has brought me so much joy (and pain) is for sale and there is no turning back. I had her repaired for a gazillion euro and replaced the rear shock (complete) the clutch (complete) then on top of that the BIG service with new shims, valve belts, etc. and of course a new set of rubber. So whom ever is lucky enough to pick up this beauty will do a GREAT BARGAIN. The dealer that made the service is the same I gave the contract to sell. The company is called Motrrad Beyreuter in Munich. They have been Ducati dealer for 28 years and just recently lost the license because Ducati decided to set up their own shop in central Munich… *sigh*
Anyhow – here is a link to the page of second hand bikes where BlueBird will appear as soon as the rain stops (so we can take some decent pictures) http://www.motorrad-beyreuther.de/gebrauchtemotorraeder.html it has been raining solid for 2 weeks now but sunshine is expected this weekend.
Hope for the best. Please give a good price. All money will go to the needy = me !
Yours, for the rescue
//Jake

Lost on the Schwäbische Alb
Hello and welcome to yet another LostRiders adventure. This time it all started at the service shop where BlueBird had been recovering after some “minor” issues. Valve belts, spark plugs, valve cover, clutch, clutch basker, valve lifters, oil, filter and of course the rear shock absorber. All new. She felt completely mint, fresh out of the box. No more rattling from the engine, crisp response and for sure a few more HP to the tarmac. It is still weird to ride around with the original exhaust cans but since this is Germany making noise is forbidden. Even the police are not allowed to have loud sirens… *sigh*. Anyhow. Here we are now. I went an picked up Burgerman at his chateau and met up with his wifie and son. She had prepared a small snack for us and I was worried I would not be able to get on my bike afterwards. Great food as always and I am sure I had too much
When ready we went out to prepare the rides. He with his Burgman and at this moment I caught him off guard. He had already started pimpin’ his ride with a new sissy bar and hand protectors – naturally in the same silver-flake-grey colour as the rest of the ride. But there was something that stuck out in front. He started explaining about the air inlet in front and how it was causing turbulence and noise.
He had now come up with a – in his mind – brilliant solution. By killing Sponge Bob and shoving him in to the air inlet the noise was gone… I was laughing so hard I almost fell over. Naturally this had to bring our my camera and eternize this moment. I just wish we could see his little legs and the yellow trousers stick out – that would be perfect. Now I know what to do until next time. BRILLIANT!
So with noise-reduction in place we started our journey towards Esslingen and his good friend Christian who turned out to be a bit of a “Pale Rider” on his BMW 1200 GS. Looking extensively cool and using every break to light up he was the Schwäbische version of Clint Eastwood.
The weather in souther Germany was comparable to a grey wet blanket that had been soaking the countryside for more than 4 weeks solid. The very same day we were to set off it rained in the morning but around 10 it cleared up as if Harry Potter had given his magic wand a “swich and flick” . Sun shine galore and not a cloud in sight. The temperature went up quickly and stayed around 30 all weekend!
The Schwäbiche Alpen is a lush green area with gentle hills that add a bit of flavour to the ride. There’s a lot of traffic and you have to look out for farmers in their “killer thriller” – that’s a tractor. But these ain’t no ordinary tractors, these are equipped with all kinds of sharp and pointy things that they tow around on the roads. They can turn at any moment with surprising speed and have a poor understanding for what is going on around them. A bikers nightmare. But aside from that the Schwäbische Alpen is beautiful and well worth the ride. The roads follow the landscape as they swirl and flow across the green acres. The pace was gentle which gave time to see everything beside the road. We saw gliders (airplanes) being towed up by a ground cable and cows and horses in the meadows. Vintage cars and motorcycles and painted houses in the small villages. Everything was exceptionally clean and well organised.
We had lunch at a small biker friendly Biergarten where others soon joined. No hot food was served but considering it was 4 pm and this was our lunch we were fine with a sandwich and then head home for some BBQ. The Pale Rider took care of us like we were his family and after a long nights talk we slept like babies. Good rides, tired to the bone, feed the monster, have a few beers, lot of laughs and stories, good mood and that’s what make up a splendid weekend. Thanks Christian!!!
